Ruth Fitzell

Ruth is a parent of two pre-teen children and is navigating the challenges of raising a family in today’s digital world. She is a Regional Lead for South Yorkshire in the Smartphone Free Childhood movement, supporting parents to rethink children’s relationship with technology.

With 17 years’ experience in social research, including work on children, education and families, Ruth has seen how technology is changing childhood. She also volunteers as an English tutor with Year 5 and Year 6 pupils, giving her valuable insight into children’s learning and development. While she recognises the value of technology, she believes childhood is too precious to be spent on devices, and is passionate about helping children and families to have the understanding and awareness to build healthier, more balanced digital habits.
